Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation and EAEU intensifying cooperation in transport sector

Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation Andrei Nikitin and Eurasian Economic Commission Member of the Board – Minister in charge of Energy and Infrastructure Arzybek Kozhoshev held a working meeting at the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation.

The meeting focused on cooperation within the Council of Heads of EAEU Member States’ Transport Departments. Andrei Nikitin supported a proposal to invite the ministers of the EAEU observer states to the upcoming meeting of the Council and to expand the number of Forum guests. Such participation will enable the international community to clearly demonstrate the results and prospects of EAEU integration.

The parties noted the importance of implementing the Declaration on the Further Development of Economic Processes within the Eurasian Economic Union until 2030 and for the period until 2045 – the Eurasian Economic Path.

A key objective is to draw up a roadmap for implementing the key focuses of the EAEU’s coordinated transport policy for 2027–2029. Priorities include regulatory frameworks for digital development, the introduction of unmanned technologies, and the establishment of unified norms and standards for autonomous systems.

The EAEU is successfully implementing pilot projects on the use of navigation seals. Since 11 February 2026, the agreement in this area has been fully implemented. Projects involving electronic international transport consignment notes (e-CMR) are currently underway. Preparations are also being made to launch a pilot project to digitalize rail container shipping.

Andrei Nikitin invited Kozhoshev and his colleagues from the Eurasian Economic Commission to continue discussions about the transport agenda at the International Transport and Logistics Forum in St. Petersburg on 1–3 April. The Forum programme includes a discussion about the creation of a network of high-speed EAEU highways, including toll roads, and a meeting of the Council of Heads of EAEU Member States’ Transport Departments.

The Forum is being organized by the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation with the support of the Government of the Russian Federation. The Roscongress Foundation is managing the event.
