The icebreaker Krasin (known as Svyatogor until 1927) symbolizes an entire era in Russian history. Launched in 1917, it survived World War I, the Civil War, and World War II, and also took part in numerous Arctic expeditions and the international rescue operation of Umberto Nobile's Italian expedition in 1928.
The exhibition features various items, models, and photographs that illustrate the birth of the Krasin, its rescue expeditions, around-the-world voyage during World War II, and much more. The interior of the icebreaker’s living quarters – the captain’s and expedition leader’s cabins – tell the story of the crew’s living conditions and the kind of work they had to perform.
Participants must purchase tickets separately.
